:: THREE ::

Thanks Gail!

Somewhere in the distant past... I was given 3 shutters.
3 different sized, different styled...shutters.

Display shutters...
that my son in law, who works for a Solar Screen company gave to me
-- these were a floor model display, heading for the dumpster.

I knew sooner or later...MUCH, MUCH LATER... I'd come up with a use for them.
I've racked my brains trying to figure out what to do with them.

Finally about a month ago... I took the ACTUAL SHUTTERS off the frames and painted them.
Still not knowing what I'd do with them.
That project came and went ...
STILL NOTHING.

So....now... I have 3 frames (that used to have shutters attached to them)
and 3 shutters... painted what color? ....GUESS!

GREEN!
so that? That is a picture of  a green shutter popped back into the original frame...
so that YOU can appreciate what I'm about to show you.
(you can see some brackets in there and yes...NOW they are all attached to each other.

That ... is the loveliness of PALLET WOOD(also donated by son in law)
...made into a table top...today! By me :)

See? isn't it lovely?
Painted All WHITE with a touch of rustic pallet wood and wire metal goodness.
Perfect.

So RECAP:
  • 3 frames mounted together ...with
  • 3 tiers of drawer glides added to the inside...
  • AND 3 AWESOME (YES THREE!) WIRE BASKET ORGANIZER/ DRAWERS!

It's going in my utility room. To hold soap, scrub brushes, iron, vacuum bags, etc.

I KNOW...  I still have 3 UN-USED shutters to deal with.
No. I have no idea for what. But the frames are put to good use...
wouldn't you say?

::Cozying Up the Covers::

Over the summer- we re-arranged our bedroom after 16 years of having the bed in the same spot. But with that new arrangement...One little tweak...
I reaped tons of benefits.
The first and most important... no more aching back.
I can sleep so comfortably now.
Our little farmhouse at some time in its history was added onto...and our bedroom has a slight
(EVER SO SLIGHT) slope. But my back Knew it.

With the summer days-- my bed was dressed with a summery and cheerful ensemble... the $5 quilt!
Full of color. But a little thin.

With the cooler temps that came this weekend... I only added a couple of blankets to help us through the cold snap. But knew it was getting to be that time of year when something warmer and bit heavier was needed for the bed.

It even looks warmer.
Yesterday-- laundry day-- I washed the sheets and re made the bed with the winter bedding.
Tucked a wool blanket across the foot of the bed and removed and added pillows.

While in the laundry room-- I found this little sample of TIDE w/ Febreeze ®
and I that's what I washed my sheet with...big mistake.
I expected to crawl into my bed last night...made comfy and cozy for winter... with crisp clean sheets that had been lined dried for freshness... and fall fast asleep.
But no.  This laundry soap...kept me up for what seemed to be THE.LONGEST.NIGHT. OF. MY.LIFE! I think I'll stick to my no fragrance, no dyes, no extra YUCK...with my homemade laundry soap, thank you very much!
...at least with that I don't wake up sneezing in the morning!
(and continue to sleep so comfortably) Where sleep is key!

::World Series and Crocheting::

Crocheted for 4 nights... watching and listening to the World Series...

I was rooting for San Francisco...

 They swept the series!
I was glad to see them win.
Hope the Rangers get back to the Series next year.

Now to get these cloths in the shop!

Prayers for everyone on the East Coast in the path of Sandy-- Be Safe!

::One of my Many Hats-- "Costume Designer" ::

This weekend a local Photographer holds her annual blood drive and food drive to help area food banks and the all important need to give blood-- with a donation of either- you may get your children's picture taken in costume for the season.

Here is what I worked on with youngest daughter for her boys.

This GOODWILL coat has seen better days for sure--- it went from this
 To this...
I took the lining out of it and re-sized it to fit Weston... he is HICCUP (from 'HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON')
I used the lining to make a vest and the cuff from the sleeves to top his boots. First I dyed them chocolate brown. (with the LAST BOX of Rit ® dye on the shelf in DARK BROWN) ...they sort of look chocolatey - purple...but passed close enough for brown. I didn't dye the pants and they matched pretty well.
He was happy. He just wants to kill a dragon!

Next we took the $1.50 thrift store VAMPIRE BAT costume and turned it into TOOTHLESS.

I used an old t-shirt to cover all the red. Because TOOTHLESS IS A NIGHT FLYER...and he can't be seen. We scored an extra pair of pants I cut one leg off and made the hat, added crocheted 'dragon eyes' and the other leg we left attached to the elastic and I stuffed it with shopping bags and made a tail. So...it just slid right on over his costume! easy peasy!

I took the next photo...while they were playing on the steps of the HUGE Tree House outside!

I present
HICCUP AND TOOTHLESS.

I assure you there are two very pleased little boys behind the masks I put on their faces.

No dragons were slayed or injured in the making of this fun day!

:: A Favorite Thing- ::

No. not CATFishing... don't like fishing.
Unless it involves watching The Honey and my grandson...have a lesson in baiting a hook.  Notice the bobber...

--- because Weston wants to catch a fish.  Here he is watching Honey bait the hook.

..again, the bobber(very top of the photo) ... and right in the middle?
A big CATFISH!!!

 .
Weston was PIE-EYED... FOR SURE!   He told that fish...'eat the worm' fish!  It didn't.  He's still trying to catch his first fish.  He'll be amazed when he does, I'm sure!
Be blessed today.

:: Using What You Have: Recycle W-Chalk Board Paint ::

So the other day I was waiting on my paint to dry in the 'DEN'- so I could give it another coat.
I had spotted this can of spray paint ... (actually it was in my plastic paint drawer and I found it when I was looking for a paint key...but let's not split hairs about it)

As I was walking past the fridge... I noticed I have an abundance of advertising magnets.

You know the advertising magnets you get on the front of the phone book or as business cards for things you really don't need.

Or say... you switch propane companies and don't need the old one...or whatever!

...and I thought to myself.
Hey! I should paint those Ugly MAGNETS.

What would you USE THEM FOR? you say.

Leave a funky greeting on the stove pipe....NEVER EVER STICK A MAGNET ON A HOT STOVE PIPE!

You can use it on a metal door...

To remind people to turn off the outside lights...

Let people know the dishes in the dishwasher are "clean"or " DIRTY" .
(...or, in my case,  just label the appliances that need a good wiping down)
:)

You can frame an old photo of your children...
for black mail purposes, of course!

I think these could be included in a housewarming present, or for someone with children and tons of 'artwork' for the fridge. They can be used on lunch boxes...do they still EVEN make metal lunch boxes? ...or...in a school locker!
...OR file drawers...
label your can drinks at a party... (uh, magnets don't stick to aluminum)
or on the backs of metal chairs for seating arrangement...or under the chair for door prizes!
Tons of uses...

Either way...

What would you use recycled chalkboard magnets for, hmmm?

I thought I'd use one on my coffee pot that said 'READY' ...you know, because lifting the little lid to see if the coffee has been set up for the morning...is so hard!
However, it would eliminate the urge to keep checking 5 or 8 times before heading off to bed.
...I'm just saying.

Oh give thanks to LORD for He is good; His loving kindness is everlasting.
